Sara and Jason’s Wedding

Sara and Jason had a beautiful wedding at the Slit Barn in Cambridge. Its an old property with lots of greenery. The old restored barn was beautifully decorated with lots of flowers in mason jars, a teacup display for the evening coffee and tea, and they even had a live band!

We lucked out with the weather has it had been very hot the few days prior but thankfully we got a nice break from the heat and it was just a perfect sunny day!

The girls had to get ready for the big day! Hair and makeup can be time consuming, but It was an evening wedding, starting at 7:00 pm, so we had lots of time.

The ceremony was held outside, outback of the restored home that is also on the property. They had nice wood benches, and along the isle they had white lanterns, along with a row of hay bales at the front covered with white cloth. There were beautiful flower arrangements that were sitting on top of old barrels. It was very country chic.

Sara and Jason had a special log cutting during the ceremony. The log cutting is meant to symbolize the first obstacle they will over come together as a married couple. Its a tradition at German weddings, and while these two are not German, it was a very lovely idea, and something I had never seen before!

They then did the traditional kissing of the Bride, and they were officially married. Jason’s dad played live while they walked down the isle to celebrate their union.

We were able to get lots of family photos for them. They both have very welcoming families. Everyone was having fun, but eventually Kye; Sara’s boy, just wasn’t having it anymore. He wanted to run around and play, which I don’t blame him, I’d rather not have my photo taken a hundred times either!

The wedding party was looking great! The ladies had beautiful pastel coloured dresses, and the men had blue toned suites. These guys were not afraid to be silly, which was so fun!

The reception was held in the actual barn itself. They had nice chandeliers lit up, and other string lights hung around the place. They had lots of yummy treats! I felt like a kid in a candy store. Sour keys, Coke Bottles, Popeye Cigarettes, cupcakes and other baked goodies. You could get a sugar rush just looking at it all!

They had some lovely speeches, and then it was time to dance and party!

And last but not least the gorgeous couple!

Welcoming Xavier!

I had the lovely opportunity of meeting with Ashely and Tom, and their wonderful new addition to their family; their first child, Xavier. I was able to grab a few candid photos while he was awake and we were chit chatting.

We then met up the following week to get some posed photos while he was sleepy, he sure did fight the sleepiness!

Eventually after some more snuggles and another bottle he finally settled and we were able to get some more photos of this cutie pie!

He sure is a heart melter! Love the tiny fingers and toes that babies have, its amazing how we start out so small and within a few years their walking and talking.

Glamour Portraits with Shannon

I had an itch to go out and just take photos for my own personal fulfillment as I have been watching and following a lot of glamour photographers lately like Sue Bryce, and I love the idea of someone feeling good about themselves as a result of my work. So the the day after Canada Day, Shannon and I met up at Harris Park to update some of her photos. If you recall our last get together was in the dead of winter and it was FREEZING! Needless to say we had to make up for the lost time, and what better way then with a portrait session!

We had a great time and it was a beautiful day! Shannon was awesome and brought a couple of outfits with her so we were really able to play around.

We then found a shadier spot and Shannon changed once again and this time it was more pixie like, added with the shady greenery she looked like she belonged in the forest.

I think these two ended up being my fave! They all turned out so pretty so its hard to pick just one! Thanks again Shannon for working with me and laughing along the way 🙂

Whitney Weds Adam – May 30th 2015

We started off the day bright and early with the girls getting their hair and makeup done. It was surprisingly warm for 8 am and the sun was shining beautifully! We were thankful that the thunderstorm we expected had held off.

Then it was the Bride’s turn!

I was then able to sneak off and get some of the groom getting ready.

The ladies and I met back at the location of the wedding so the Bride and Bridesmaids could finish getting ready.

It was then time to walk down the aisle and become Mr. and Mrs. D!

You may now kiss the Bride!

The beautiful bride greeting her guests.

Now its time to get the party started! It immediately down poured as soon as the ceremony ended. Thankfully we were able to take shelter in the dining tents they had put up for the wedding. There was a ton of beautiful flowers arrangements from the grooms fathers place of work, and lots of handmade items decorated the tables. Picture burlap and lace with mint green tablecloths and napkins. You would have never known you were in a backyard, a beautiful backyard might I add. They also had a photo booth with lots of fun props!

We were able to keep the families nice and dry with the beautiful patio provided by the Bride’s grandparents and then once the while the rain let up we took off to get some photos of the Bridal party.

Time for the first dances!

Now for some speeches, some laughter and a few tears. This is always the time when you find out the silly things the bride and groom did growing up. I always love hearing those funny stories.

They also had a candy bar! With gumballs, and rock candy suckers, chocolate eggs, jelly beans, War Heads, the list goes on! Lets just say the kid in all of us was very happy.

And of course we can’t forget the beautiful bride and handsome groom!

And then we danced into the night!

A Few Portraits with Daveo

A friend and I decided to meet up and I wanted get some portraits. I had a particular vision in mind but this was all pushed aside when he showed up looking like a lumberjack. So we ended up taking some photos that were more woodsy and raw than my original idea. I am certainly happy with the outcome!

It was a pretty humid day, so we didn’t trek around the forest for too long.Portrait of Dave

All in all, it was a fun little get together. After all of that walking we were both thirsty, so like any good Canadian, we went over to Tim Horton’s to get something cold to drink and headed home.

Maternity Photos with Jason and Sarah

As you may have seen back in November, I did a surprise gender reveal photo session with my friends Jason and Sarah. Well I had the pleasure of getting to visit them again and see their Nursery that they have completed awaiting the arrival of their baby boy expected April 8th 2015.

After getting some photos of the Nursery, we took some photos of the excited soon to be parents in their beautiful nursery. I am sure this little guy will be happy to have this room!

If you couldn’t tell, the theme for the room is Dinosaurs. They even found a really cute outfit that has little Dino claws on the feet! and they found the cutest baby Crocs, and some adorable alligator shoes.

I am so happy to say I have known this beautiful woman for about 20 years now. She is such a smart, and caring person. Anyone who knows her, is lucky to have her in their life! I know she will make an amazing mom.

After we completed the photos indoors, we took a drive to Victoria Park. Thankfully the weather had warmed up for us as we had just finished about a week of -30 Degrees Celsius weather. There were lots of people skating on the ice rink, and walking through the park; I think we were all taking advantage of the outdoors that day.

I am so excited for these two soon to be parents. I know they will be such great, loving and supportive parents. Congratulations again you two!

Owen, Emily, and Sully

My childhood best friend wanted to get some photos of her little boy Owen with his cousins; Emily, and Sully to be able to gift them for Christmas. The boys were more interested in the snow, and playing outside than having anything to do with getting their photo taken. Luckily, Emily was very cooperative and helped us with them.

The kids are so cute. It hard to not want lots of photos! They just wanted it to be done…

We ventured around Becky’s backyard since its so big, she has lots of nice trees as well. They at least had some snow there too. Here in London its still green!

I just had to get a photo of the two siblings for their mom!

Eventually the boys were done with having their photos taken, so Emily allowed me to get a few of just her.

And then it was play time! I love candid type photos way more! There is something about capturing that moment, which may never be duplicated again. It shows their personality and character so much more.

Isn’t he too cute for words?!

Thank you Becky, for allowing me to capture yours and your sisters babies! They are truly adorable.

Surprise Baby Gender Reveal Photo shoot

This past Saturday, I was given the honour of photographing my childhood best friend; Sarah’s, baby gender reveal.

It started out by her giving me an unopened envelope and inside was the gender written down a folded piece of paper. She had blue and pink coloured, star shaped confetti that she gave me to fill these little push poppers she had made from a D.I.Y.

After that we ventured out in the crisp autumn air to capture the special moment of the revealing of the baby’s gender.

Would it be a boy or a girl? The votes were in! Up until this moment only the Doctor and I knew for sure!

Once discovering that it was a boy and taking the time to obviously celebrate and revel in the moment, they went back to their car to warm up. I then took a moment to grab a few more photos of their props, and the baby’s first purchased outfit.

I then joined them in the warmth of the car and once we all thawed a little we went back out to snap a few more shots of the happy soon to be family.

Well there you have it! The secrets out. What a surprising and eventful day. Sending a big congratulations to Sarah and Jason on their news of a baby boy, expected April 2015!

Halloween Mini Photos and Family portrait session

On October 25th, I held a Halloween mini photo session. We had pumpkins, gourds, a skeleton, some witches brew, a cauldron… we had it all!

After getting some shots of the sleepy, 2 week old baby Marcus, we then had Mya come in who was dressed as “Princess Sofia” She was so cute and like all other kids, wanted to see each picture that we took right after we had taken it. After her insisting numerous times to take my photo; since I was taking hers,  I then let her take a few snaps of me with my phone just to make things fair. After all, we do teach kids to take turns so, that is what we ended up doing.

Once Mya and Marcus were all done, Charlie came along in his Iron Man costume. Charlie being such a super hero fan had received this costume as a gift for his 4th birthday in September, right then and there in the middle of McDonalds, he became Iron Man. So fast forward a few weeks and we’re almost at Halloween, Charlie was not very keen on having his photo taken. He was just not having it. Needless to say, we still made out with some great shots!

Once we finished with the Halloween photos, we headed over to Civic Garden for some family photos with Charlie’s family.
